"Is my child's speech on track?"

One of the questions I am asked most frequently is, "Is my child's speech on track?" The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) provides a great number of resources and guidelines as a starting point for us to answer this very question. This specific page outlines the common early warning signs of language disorders, speech sound disorders, stuttering, voice disorders, and hearing loss. It also includes a link that will outline the communication skills you should expect from your child from birth to five years old.
Here is a handy cheat sheet you can save and refer to as needed: https://www.asha.org/uploadedImages/2019-BHSM-Identify-Signs-A.jpg
