Pragmatic (Social) Communication Disorder

Children on the autism spectrum sometimes do not interact well socially and may have a disorder known as Social-Pragmatic Disorder. This is common in children with Autism, but children without Autism can also have a problem with social communication. Family history and other disorders can contribute to Social-Pragmatic Disorder.
Children need to socially interact appropriately and successfully in order to grow and learn. When children cannot 'apply' their communication skills in a social or academic setting, it can affect their friendships, their confidence, and their performance in school. All of this can contribute to delays in overall development.
We frequently help children with social-pragmatic language difficulties. Do not let a lack of pragmatic skills hinder your child's progress in school or in life. Make an appointment with us today.
