Hi! I'm Annie,

SLP and owner of Soundtrack Speech Therapy.  My journey to becoming a speech-language pathologist (SLP) began when I was an instructional aide in a moderate-severe special education middle school classroom.  There I discovered a passion for supporting individuals with disabilities and different needs.  I wanted to be able to help them more specifically with their ability to communicate so I investigated the field of speech therapy, enrolled in a program for communicative disorders and never looked back.  I have worked in various settings including public and non-public schools, adult inpatient rehab and a hospital-based outpatient clinic.  I spent nearly a decade providing school-based services before I decided to make the switch to private practice.

My mission to improve quality of life for my patients and their families is what keeps me motivated.  It isn’t just about treating the diagnosis.  It’s about eliminating the communicative struggle in order to improve their ability to live and enjoy life to the fullest, more easily communicating their wants and needs, finding joy in everyday moments, participating in their hobbies and passions, and ultimately leading a happy and fulfilling life.

My favorite part about my career in private practice is the freedom I have to create individualized treatment plans without the limitations I’ve experienced in other settings.  I help my patients through the integration of traditional and unique speech-language interventions and improve their overall well-being with an approach rooted in collaborative, naturalistic and holistic-minded treatment.  I engage them in therapy activities that are highly related to the real-life activities and situations that are most important to them, and focus not only on developmental and communicative factors, but also the physiological, mental, emotional, and lifestyle factors that may contribute to their challenges. This approach makes all the difference in my ability to tailor an effective treatment plan for each of my patients.

When I’m not working, I enjoy hanging with my super spunky, toddler, Izzy, spending time in nature, working out, checking out new-to-me restaurants and coffee shops, and reading.  Having been born and raised in Southern California and living on Maui for a year (working in the schools as an SLP), the beach has always been one of my favorite places to be.  There is nothing like walking down the road, jumping in the ocean and swimming with turtles every single day!  It’s not quite as convenient as it used to be when I lived a block away from it, but I still try to get there whenever possible.  I have many “happy places”, but the beach is at the top of the list.
